“LLMs won’t just disappear?”
You sure about that?
What makes AI any different than any of this shit? It’s actually losing far more money than most of these things did.

"There's consumer demand for AI now!"
Is there? How do you know? Wouldn't any statistics be massively thrown off by the injection of AI into everywhere? Google put the AI box in without asking anyone if they wanted it, and now they count every use of it as proof that people want AI.
This is the same industry that fabricated evidence that people wanted a "pivot to video." I think the tech industry is more interested in manipulating consumer demand than responding to it.

Can't wait for gemini to be on that list! -

@sidereal I'm far on the anti-AI side of things philosophically, using LLMs only in extremely limited circumstances (creating assignments that show off their weaknesses).
Yet to Google, I'm a pretty regular AI user, because my 11-month-old regularly unintentionally triggers Google's AI "assistant" on my phone through some arcane multi-finger gesture I haven't yet been able to disable (nor have my attempts to uninstall/disable the assistant been successful).

This was already known back when Steve Jobs talked about deciding for customers what they should want. It's one of the worst, most unethical ideas in the tech industry, filled to the brim with hubris.
And frankly, one could extend this to many entrepreneurs who are looking to disrupt markets merely to make some dough, rather than wanting to actually make better products and make the world a better place.

@sidereal That explains a lot honestly. I was never big on video and couldn't really understand why so much social media was centering it as a service and platform but I thought I was just an outlier, this fundamentally makes more sense to me

> What makes AI any different than any of this shitAI serves the narrative that it can be used to get rid of humanity; A primary ambition of the ruling class.
Money matters a lot less than the possibility of killing off billions of people. Especially if a computer system can do it

@sidereal @ripperdoll
A lot of people lost their jobs over it. Cracked had a lot of really good talent that they had to let go when the pivot-to-video stuff all collapsed. -

@sidereal that's quite a list!
