Obviously, Ukraine does not want to allow Russian oil flowing through Ukraine to Hungary, while Viktor Orbán is working against Ukraine in the EU.
But being about to lose the Hungarian elections on April 12, a desperate Orbán now seizes two armored bank trucks owned by a Ukrainian bank, travelling from Vienna to Kiev, carrying $40 million, €35 million, and 9 kg gold.
While we are trying to defeat Russia, Orbán is now stealing from Ukraine.

Orbán’s government presents this as if Hungary is stopping Ukrainian money laundering. But there is just one problem: If Ukraine was laundering money in Ukraine, that money would go out of Ukraine to buy assets in the EU. But the seized money and gold was travelling from Austria to Ukraine.
In a war, the economy runs on foreign cash, as people realize that the banking systems are often unavailable. And as Ukraine runs a huge trade deficit, it keeps running out of cash, hence the trucks.

@randahl I do hope the Hungarian elections can be held and that in fact they manage to topple him.
Everybody deserves better.

@randahl Orban who has accumulated experience at stealing EU money now extends his “skill” to Ukraine’s money.

@randahl You think he'd be able to spot money laundering better...

Orban needs to find out about the prolific drone industry in Ukraine. First-hand.

@randahl Orban is another nasty piece of work, in this case he is acting as a proxy war agent for Putin, and the EU should respond as if Hungary is Russia. Actually, I'd kick Hungary out of the EU, they are a total disruption. Let them see if they like being part of Russia.

Obviously NATO should kick an outlaw state out. Aren't there minimum standards for a country to remain in NATO?

@Savvyhomestead no. That is not part of the charter.

Victor Orban is just as big of an asshole as Donald Trump. -

@Savvyhomestead @randahl
Somehow it's not part of the charter/rules of the EU either. 🤨
The lack of selfcontrolling/-adjusting(!) mechanisms in such Confederations of States and even in democracies themselve are astonishing.
So once you're "on top" or "in" you can do what ever you want. Which means apparently nothing less than an immanent/built in selfdestruction. An institutional timebomb as soon as someone reckless comes into power.
Yay. -
