@Carl_Gylling Same. I write little stories and I get a couple things right and a few things completely wrong. I think those of us with good imaginations can look at the present and extrapolate forward, but not perfectly.
I had a writing teacher explain how to Get Things Right in either the future and the past:
Find the distance between today and then. Look at what has remained the same, what might have changed is just incidental.

@MelissaBearTrix I wish I could say I saw it coming, but it's shocking how quickly Trump 2.0 trashed every institution. I cannot imagine the amount of work it will take to undo the damage. Maybe it can't be undone.

@MelissaBearTrix tbh, with idiot orange 2.0 coming to power again I mentally marked the US as "lost country"... what surprises me a lot more is how reluctant the rest of the (western)world is to actually figure out what it does mean to not be lead by the US.

I have to admit, it's light years faster than I imagined.
Though Trump is piss ass stupid, I figured there would be at least a few people who would try to hold the ship steady instead of dumping kerosene on every god damn fire the imbecile lights.
