The very first website is 35 years old today, and you can still visit it at http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html!

"On August 6, 1991, the first website was introduced to the world. [It] contained information about the World Wide Web Project. It launched at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN, where it was created by British computer scientist @timbl."

    Happy birthday, web!

@stefan I remember when CERN had to rename one of their webservers because it had an underscore in the name

@ricci Ha, shame, definitely would love to see it! Either way, very cool!

Mine would be almost 16 years old.

@stefan here, you can have a link to a page I made for a customer as a real, honest-to-god, professional web designer in 1997, when I was also still a high school student: https://web.archive.org/web/19970215043240/http://www.rustcoin.com/index.html

@stefan @timbl This is how websites should look. I miss the front page that had a bunch of hyperlinks that looked ugly as hell but was super useful. Much better than the super slick, but completely unusable, modern websites.

@stefan Here's one I made even earlier, for my dad's company: https://web.archive.org/web/19961230081906/http://srroberts.com/ . I don't remember if I got paid for it, so I don't know if it counts as "professional"

Yes, IA has it. No, I will never give you the link.

Wow line-mode browser! I remember using that at Michigan State back in... 1992? My CompSci prof was convinced that the Web was going to replace Gopher. I guess he was right.
