@ai6yr yeah noted. I put alt text in my own but there is a limit when dealing with text in an image. Like, just help and aid. Everyone has to gripe.

I can't persuade Tusky (on Android) to do it for me. Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere, but if so, it's not obvious

Ah. I think that might be the paste operation sticking in what's in the paste buffer. If that's a picture *and* some text, it may well do both, giving a picture with whatever associated text there was as its caption
If whatever copied the picture into the buffer in the first place also adds the text, and its default text is the name of the image type, that's the cause. And I can understand the interaction between two useful behaviours leading to this

@nemokamui @ai6yr What limit? This is only a sentence, which is perfectly reasonable to have verbatim in alt text.

Sorry but even worse than images without alt text, are images with useless alt text... Such as this one: "image/jpeg"...
You cannot rage against the machine if your rage is ableist...My new app, LeafLine (which allows either Mastodon or Bluesky, or both at once in the same app) doesn't make alt text optional. Either you add alt text, or you can't post an image.
Sadly, even that doesn't protect against people adding nonsensical alt text. -

@ai6yr @nemokamui I know? Sorry, I was just confused what "I use alt text but there's a limit" meant. With the context of complaining about "alt text fiends", it sounded weird. Like... Sometimes alt text goes too far, or there's a technical limitation, or... I dunno. I see that I must have misunderstood, but that's why I was asking.

Yes I am tired of having my time wasted with useless alt text.If you don't want to describe your images, then leave it blank. ALt text isn't a title or a caption. It's a description of the meaning of the image.@MxAlba @pinkflawd
