Paradoxically, Trump the life-long threatener doesn't seem to understand the point of the conditional threat.
It really only works at all if the thing you threaten with is more damaging than complying.

@SuneAuken Actually, this has been a consistent theme throughout his life. He has a pathological inability to view the situation from the entity on the other side of the table's point of view. It is impossible for him because, in a certain way, they are not real to him.
He thinks this makes him a 'tough' negotiator. But what it makes him is a man who is impossible to do a deal with. @rogue_corq

True too. In fact, the co-morbidity between his already disturbed psyche and his deterioration is a key challenge.
Add to this that he has always been a rhetorical one-trick-pony relying consistently on his ability to be shamelessly transgressive as his one weapon and the whole thing gets exceedingly hard to track.
Except, of course, his actions are never news in any real sense.. They are always the same thing.
