    So Sam Altman's response to concerns about the wastefulness of his company's technology is basically "Well, raising humans consumes a lot of energy too!"

    Either he has finally fried his own brain with his slop machine or he doesn't even bother any more to hide the degrading, dehumanizing, and despicable mindset that fuels the industry he's in.

    Either way, those people shouldn't wield any power in the real world, where the rest of us 'dispensable humans' dwell.

      @r_alb

      I don’t think it’s out of pocket to think these guys have fried their brains talking to LLMs.

      Dogfooding is a tried and true software development philosophy to enhance the QA process so these guys have likely been talking all day to LLMs for a decade now with zero concern for how their brain is eroding.

        @r_alb

        He's equalizing the value of the needs of living human beings with --machines.

        this entire "ai" enterprise is even more anti-human than human cloning--and should be outlawed globally on the exact same basis.

          @r_alb They do not say "dispensable." They say "disposable."

            @r_alb this is not the first time i've seen this argument from the large language models promoters; i think there was an article or a paper that also went this way.

            but it's nice to know that the fuckers are equating their beefed-up GPUs with human lives. gives some clarity where we stand with them.

              @r_alb Letting sociopaths run societies seems counterproductive. :3c
