    Survey at work asks what AI tools one might be using and how much time I am saving per week. But there is no option to say I don’t use AI.

    It’s like in a sci-fi movie, when a crew member realizes they are the only one left that is not infected by the zombie plague.

      @fetchezlavache Just last week I for the first time noticed work chat messages in a 1-on-1 conversation where I am 100% sure the other side was cutting & pasting GPT responses into our chat.

      Surrounded by zombies.

      @tsturm I noticed a few years ago that a contractor was sounding very strange in email conversations. Overy optimistic and extremely explainable for being a supposedly very buzy company. It was a very creepy way of talking for a swedish contractor so we didn't do much business with that company. I didn't realize it at the time but later I knew why I was having such a strange feeling.

      Later when looking back at the mails I'm 100% sure it was AI written. Because it said ChatGPT in hidden places.

        @tsturm @cstross I’m in basically the same situation, plus getting a weekly email reminding me I have not activated my copilot pro license.

        If you have the option to simply ignore those polls, it could be the best strategy. I

          @tsturm
          I'd say there's a confirmation bias built-in.
          Providing even the option to officially state abstaining from the use of LLM-tools or even gaining "negative saving" by the use of these tools would contradict the image of LLMs being helpful and reshaping the workplace landscape.

          So, obviously, none of the people putting their names under multi-million - if not billion - dollar contracts licensing LLM models want to hear or read they made a wrong - and costly - decision.

            that survey tells you more about the people that set it, than the results will tell them.

                @tsturm every day there comes a time i start wondering: who are these people? is my non-ai echo chamber this robust? who are these people?

                you hang in there, man. surely there's nothing stupid that comes out of entrusting one's decisionmaking and sanity to arbitrary code hallucinations, this is definitely the way of the future.

                      @eq It's really weird - now that I fully suspect this coworker to use GPT for their answers, I don't want to interact with them and even just responding to these messages feels now like an insult.

                                      @n1xnx @tsturm I've been completely open at work (where there's also a strong pro-AI policy 🙄😞 They pay me for the results I'm supposed to produce & AI isn't helping me do that, so if they make me use AI they take time away from my result-producing work, making me less valuable as an employee, while still paying my fairly generous hourly rate. So far it has kept management from insisting... 🤞
