@FediTips@social.growyourown.services hoping you can help me understand Mastodon notification and mute behavior:
I want to be notified of a particular account’s new posts, so I turned on notifications for new posts from that account’s profile page (i.e., toggled on the little bell icon). However, I don’t want to see that account’s posts in my home timeline, so I also muted the account—but I made sure to uncheck the “Hide from notifications” option.
I thought that would do the trick, but no:
Even with with “Hide from notifications” unchecked, muting the account also prevents Mastodon from notifying me of new posts from that account.
Do you know of some way to do what I’m trying to do? Did I miss a step somewhere?

That's interesting, haven't heard that combination of circumstances before!
Instead of muting the account, you could try putting it on a "List" using Mastodon's Lists feature. These optionally let you hide the account's posts from your main timeline, so that the posts only appear on the list. It shouldn't affect notifications.
