@rose_alibi @mos_8502 actually, no!
- If people disregard my recommendations, then I don't support that unless I can bill them 10x the rate for that, because I've to completely start from scratch!

@brennen @rose_alibi I used to work at a hosting provider and "ChatGPT told me to run [command that hoses the server]" was unfortunately quite common.

@rose_alibi @mos_8502, not really.
I just hate it when people PURPOSEFULLY DISREGARD advice and then decry when THE SHIT FORSEEABLY HITS THE FAN!

@rose_alibi A pro-consumer magazine here had a whole article about "AI" and its uses.
While they did mention privacy issues and out of date information (when doing your taxes, for example), they did promote it for DIY projects without saying anything about LLMs being random and wrong.
I wonder how many people got shocked, burned or flooded because of this.
Even reputable, non-profit organizations are just throwing their good name at this nonsense. Why, just why?

@rose_alibi That confused me.
I read:
"We fix what ChatGPT said.
You should try!"
Took me a while to realise that my crazy brain added punctuation that wasn't actually there.

@rose_alibi We are here to fix what you fucked up. The more you screwed up, the more expensive that fix will be.
Watching and commenting adds extra to the bill.

@rose_alibi my slogan for years has been "fixing what Grammarly broke". Might be time to update it. "Taking Claude's words out of your mouth"?

@rose_alibi That's like the sign at the Astor Place barbershop that said "We fix $10 haircuts" 20 years ago. The sign is probably still there but adjusted for inflation.

i used to be a tech writer for a hosting provider with a lot of inexperienced customers, and i am grateful to not currently be answering that specific sort of question.

@rose_alibi Out of pure, morbid curiosity, part of me wants to take one of the computers from my junk heap, install Linux on it with only the barest minimum software (Enough to get to desktop and connect to the internet), and ask Claude to write every type of application for it with no human review. I just want to see the catastrophe that gets produced.
