@renkotsuban Sorry, but I meant that the twelve division the basis of the name/notion Oyatsu (The Eight snack) and it goes back further to the world recognition system of ancient China.
It is not unrelated and is reflected even the common word "o-yatsu" (the eighth snack), and the use of "eighth" by native speakers would be impossible without this cultural background. -

@renkotsuban No offense, but I have already shown the examples that the idea is currently used, not the obsolete ancient culture.
And the knowledge of cultural contexts is beneficial in terms of ,multicultural exchange such as mastodon, although it may not be necessary for the specific purpose of learning Japanese. I didn't intend to offer lecture on Japanese language but reacted to my timeline regarding our culture. -

I am aware of the ways it is still relevant or not, I was wondering if お八つ was based on the the time (which it is) or the sound (which it is not), which is something that even a lot of L1 speakers don't know. I looked it up myself and found the answer, and did not ask you to quote-post me to explain about "the ancient hour system in East Asia"
