@the_gneech We never seem to get it: The means turn into the ends.
This is the most repeating pattern in the history of civilised human life.

Well ouch.
Can confirm.

Well ouch.
Not wrong though ...

@the_gneech good at words

@the_gneech another reflection in the same line: in the late 90s when all this is useful content, we were (almost?) all data hoarders — this was so incredible, we wanted to preserve this. We were sharing good links. Then it appeared that all this content was here to stay, so we stopped hoarding, and was easy to find, so we stopped sharing.
Now, we're starting to hoard again, and to share links of AI free sites...

Well ouch.
@the_gneech Very true though. And before the internet I had access to good libraries. That's gone now, too.
-
Well ouch.
@the_gneech mind you, the library of Alexandria was, shall we say, just a little devious in how it acquired many books.

Well ouch.
Remember who funded the enshittification of Google etc.
It was done on purpose by the fossil fuel industry.
The most corrupt industry on the planet funds GOP technofascists

@the_gneech Here is what most people are missing, yea, the Internet is getting worse, but, 99% of that happened since around 2010, for a long time if you just avoided social media the Internet was the same has it always was, but then they forced social media on you, remember Google+, I hated it so much, but Google tried so hard to force it on you, and I did not see any protests against social media, and now it's not a choice, you are stuck with it

-
Well ouch.
@the_gneech I can see only one way how all of this could turn good in the end and that is by one of these companies like openai going bankcrupt and a large organisation like let's say Wikipedia buying it and putting all of that training data into the web for free. A rebirth of the library of Alexandria so to speak. Is it unlikely to happen? Yeah... but one can dream.

Well ouch.
@the_gneech ban advertising outside opt-in showcases! It would transform the internet and so much else.

@the_gneech I can relate with this person
