While this is profoundly beautiful it is also humbling to think about how solar wind (stardust from our sun!) is being shielded by the magnetic fields (what!?) of our pale blue dot of a home, which exist due to the molten iron core spinning under the crust of rocks! Basically, lava spinning under our feet is protecting us from a ball of fire above our heads.
Everyone's aurora photos are beautiful, thanks for sharing. It was stunning to be able to see with the naked eye (less vivid than these photos but definitely distinct colors and shapes). I am dumbfounded to have seen this from the cornfields of Central Illinois, USA. -
