@Balise The Matterhorn. First climbed by Edward Whymper and 6 others in 1865. Only three came down alive. Some Victorians wanted climbing banned after the accident. Chamonix has a road named after Edward Whymper and another after Michel Croz - a Chamonix guide who was one of the 4 that fell to their deaths on the way down. Whymper and the Taugwalder’s - father and son - came down alive. Lots of conspiracies about the rope that snapped.

every post like this you have to say how many miles (if any) you drove in a car, and the hours spent driving vs hours hiking
