Hey, everyone.

Hey, everyone. If you’ve been shocked and appalled by the racist rioting in Belfast and would like to help, I’d really appreciate you checking this fundraiser out:
https://chuffed.org/project/185445-support-people-and-groups-impacted-by-racist-attacks
Or consider donating to the Migrant Centre NI:
If you don’t know what I’m talking about:

Boosts appreciated. This happened in my home city and I’m utterly sickened by it.

This is awful. What a thing to wake up to.

@dlakelan Yeah. I’m so angry I don’t have the words. Trying to focus on groups like the Anaka Women’s Collective who were brave enough to go out there last night and help the threatened.

@astronomerritt was the knife attack itself considered a racist attack?

@shemjm we don’t know the motivation for the original attack but the victim is white and the perpetrator is Sudanese

the fundraiser’s cleared £120k and rising. no amount of money could possibly compensate people of colour in this country for the fear and suffering they are having to endure, but that money represents thousands of people trying to show solidarity in the face of pointless and ignorant hate, and it isn’t nothing, and I know it will be used for good. thank you to anyone who donated. what hope I have left in humanity hangs on by threads like these.

@astronomerritt That fundraiser charges quite a high fee for donations too. And the donor cannot choose how much they want to give. Donors must choose from the options they provide. So £25 or £50 or more, plus at least £5 administration fee on top. A £50 donation is closer to £60, which is regrettable.

@HarriettMB Neither of those things are true? You can input your own donation amount (I did) and choose not to tip the website or change how much you tip (which I also did).
