This reminded me that fish is spelled ghoti: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoti Gh as in enough o as in women (tense matters), and ti as in locomotion.

Addendum:: The best explanation I can come up with is that there is a phonetic connection between 'fish' and 'sday' via the 'ess' sound.
