@EUCommission Absolutely necessary. A few years ago, I watched a documentary about the recycling industry in Africa where many of our used clothes end up. What these discarded clothes did to the local environment was disgusting.

The ship I work on buys approx 1 tonne of "new" [former] t-shirts for cleaning rags every year. They come pre-cut into [almost] convenient size/shape for task. Purpose-made shop towels would be [slightly] more effective for task, cost considerably more, and wouldn't repose any material.
