“Moldy showers. Food shortages. Sailors running out of toothpaste, deodorant and soap.

Families of the sailors and Marines aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are sounding the alarm that their loved ones are so exhausted they fear it could lead to deadly mistakes, as the carrier enters its ninth month at sea and its fifth consecutive month of combat operations against Iran.

MS NOW spoke to a dozen family members who say they are extremely concerned with the morale, safety and conditions on the ship.”

"At least two U.S. Navy sailors have attempted to jump overboard on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, according to family members of the crew, after concerns were raised during an extended deployment for the war with Iran.

Relatives of the roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines who have spent more than eight months aboard the Lincoln have raised the alarm over supply shortages, long work schedules and fears over the potential for self-harm, in multiple reports published in the past week."

Two reliable morale killers in any military operation are a mission that everyone involved knows is doomed because of poor leadership, and a mission that everyone involved knows is immoral. Trump's genius is that he has managed to combine them

@jalefkowit This reminds me of nothing so much as the conditions prisoners regularly endure. I don't think it's a good idea to subject people with military training to the same thing.

@jalefkowit if took two years to get from the Gulf of Tonkin to the first undocumented fragging incidents; the USS Forrestal fire was 1969

This is looking like a speedrun

@MisuseCase yeah it took twelve years under Erdogan for the Turkish military to try a coup and it… didn’t go well for them
