Almost all public housing and facilities in this picture.
All the tall buildings are public housing. The swimming pool and track are public facilities. Only the low rise single family homes (what we call ‘landed house’) are not public housing
@skinnylatte That's really cool! On first glance, it looked to me like a very expenisve and very private neighborhood in Barranquilla (Colombia).

Good morning Singapore! It’s good to be home.
(All of these 40-60 storey apartments are new public housing. In the background, shorter 12 storey public housing, and the port of Singapore, one of the busiest ports in the world)
They can't do that in the USA because there is only funding to build public housing, and no funding to maintain it. Public housing is still workable, but nothing higher than 3 stories tall. Once your building is taller than can be maintained with a cheap bucket truck, it'll inevitably fall. -

in the cities Meran and Bozen/Bolzano of South Tyrol you get those features as Lauben(gänge), just a bit wider. The old town houses like to show off a bit more. Only you cannot buy dried lizards there as I've seen in your home-city in the 1980s.

I really like the tiles and the calligraphy
Early migrants to Singapore often formed clans based on where they were from in China, to help existing community and also help get newcomers situated with loans, support for legal and financial stuff and getting jobs
We also see a lot of this with Chinese immigrants in the west coast USA where they also helped represent migrants in immigration, and in worst case scenarios, arranged for repatriation of things (and bodies) back to the village (this happened a lot as, you know; they got massacred quite a bit)

@skinnylatte what does "thin ho" means? There's an Asian restaurant in Costa Rica (one of the oldest ones) called like that, except it's written Tin jo, but the pronunciation should be the same.
