Makes me remember of all the #NeverwinterNights LAN parties I went to in the early 2000s. So much fun.
I love that he can experience this gamers right of passage. I mean gaming online is great and all, but there is something to be said for the joy that comes from all sitting in the same computer filled room, eating chips and playing together.

I have so many fond memories of LAN Parties in my youth. We played mostly Diablo, Half-Life and Counterstrike until we almost passed out from lack of sleep

@simonjust @leeleedee I'm so old. In my youth, we were playing Formula One Grand Prix or Doom. On 386 or 486 PCs. I think we used serial ports or IPX/SPX over 10base2.

@sophiarose @leeleedee Haha, I'm just as old I think, and now that you mentioned it, I recall that we smuggled a serial cable into school to play Doom (the shareware edition)

@simonjust @leeleedee I was in my first year at university when I was introduced to Doom. We got in trouble for using the computers in the engineering department. Which was a shame, as they were much better than any PC we could afford.

@simonjust @leeleedee I think I had a 386SX at a whopping 16Mhz at the time. I was very jealous of a friend with a 486DX at 33MHz. Now, I use 240MHz dual core ESP32 devices with 2MB of RAM that cost £5 each just to ring a doorbell or control a fan.

@sophiarose @leeleedee Yep, when doing that kind of comparison it's pretty crazy to see how things have progressed
My first PC was a 486DX2-66 and it took like a blink of an eye before it was somewhat obsolete and everybody had switched to Pentiums with glorius 3dfx Voodoo cards, and then it was time to start over and save up for one of those machines
