Sometimes, pace and effort don't align... Judged by pace, this was a fairly normal long run. Judged by effort, I should hold the HM world record now (or at least a sweet deal with a sponsor).

Half of the run was through woods: lots of shadow, a light breeze, wonderful. The other half was on roads: asphalt, no shadow, scorching.

The heatwave is no joke. Rarely has a cheap ice cream tasted as good as now.

    Distance: 22.06k
    Pace: 5'45"

For my morning run, I did a bonkers mix of speed work:
    - 800m warm-up
    - 600m @ 10k pace
    - 400m @ 5k pace
    - 200m @ mile pace
    - 1k @ tempo run pace
    - 200m @ mile pace
    - 200m @ 5k pace
    - 400m @ 10k pace
    - 100m @ mile pace
    - 1k fartlek
    - and 100-300m recovery between the intervals.

Even though it was hard enough, I feel I could have given a greater effort. But I think I held back a little due to the heat.

    Still, this was fun!!

    Distance: 6.19k

After the heatwave, today is rainy and windy and feels like 7 degrees C - so I did a long morning run, of course. I have some work stuff to process (a painful rejection of a scholarly paper), so a long run in challenging condition was just what I needed.

This was a hard one, but I managed to keep both pace and effort steady and stay in control throughout. It wasn't exactly fun, but it was meaningful, and I sure enjoyed it.

I'm in Hamburg for the weekend and did a long morning run to see some of the city (aka Bus 11).

I ran somewhat faster than I had planned for. This was a good run, a joyful one.

I can see that, even though it's a coincidence.

And thank you. It's my first time in this city, so a run is definitely a good way to get a sense of the place.

              I think it's a pretty awesome coincidence! 😊

I've never really ran a long trip in any major cities, but that does sound like a good way to get to know the area a bit

                Another morning run in Hamburg.

I went by the harbour (where a gigantic ship just arrived), Reeperbahn (where I appropriately listened to The Beatles in German), and St. Pauli before returning to the hotel.

There were lots of red lights on my way, so the flow of the run was interrupted time and time again, but even so this was a nice run through light rain. I felt strong and in control, and I wanted to continue for longer.

                Distance: 8.77k

Built-in sprints!! (At least that's how my bicycle runs typically end up when I'm encountering lots of red lights)

Interesting pictures from the run. I sometimes would like to take pictures, but my phone is always at home when I run 😊

(The Beatles in German? I'm not fully acquainted with their discography apparently, was it voice over or have they done German language albums? 🫣)

After 5 hours on a very AC'd train on Tuesday (goodbye, Hamburg), I've caught a cold - so this supposedly easy run became a hard run for a weak-ish runner.

Anyway, the cold is not too bad, and it was good to hit the road again. It's going to be a beautiful day, and this morning run made for a good start.

                    Have a good one, everybody.

As I didn't get into Copenhagen Marathon, I'm now looking at what to race next Spring.

I'm ready to travel (and will probably merge it with a research stay and some vacation with family) - but I wonder if anyone in this community have experiences with or opinions on any of the following marathons?

                        - Rome (March 14)
                        - Brighton (April 4)
                        - Hamburg (April 25)
                        - Paris (probably April??)
                        - Stockholm (May 29)

All input is much welcome. Thanks in advance!

For this long morning run, I ran through Hedeland (a large area of successful nature restoration in former gravel pits).

With lots of hills but almost no shadows, this was a fun and quite challenging run. And since this was a very warm morning, I had to do it carefully and with discipline.

I ran easily and had hydration breaks every 5k. Strong and in control. Still I was *fried* toward the end.

                          Distance: 21.39k
                          Pace: 5'46" (breaks not counted)

With today's run, I've also reached my goal of running 1,000k in 2026. (Actually, I reached it on Friday but didn't notice then.)

I've also covered the first 100k with my new Nike Vomero Plus shoes (aka the "Alfa Vomeros"). I'm getting more used to the cushioning, and they don't feel wobbly anymore. I'm happy with them, and I think they make me a little faster. I will say, though, that they are much better for roads than trails, so for mixed-surfaces runs like today, I need some other shoes.

Impressive! I just did a much slower 10k and am also toasted.

Glad I finally managed to get out of the house and on the road, I'm not sure an evening run would've been better, looks like the temperature will rise throughout the day.

Sounds like you're really on top with respect to facing and tackling the challenges on the road during those half marathon sessions.

I'm inspired by the consistency and approach 😊

After a night of bad sleep (sick kid), getting out the door for this morning run demanded quite an effort. And #running it demanded quite an effort.

But the sun was warm on my skin. The beach and the sea were beautiful. R.E.M.'s "Reveal" was the perfect soundtrack. I have the ability to run. There is so much to be grateful for. We move in herds. This will be another good day.

Definitely appreciated the nice repeated numbers!

The doorstep is sometimes the tallest mountain in our running adventures, but once you're out there, it's often the words of the good old Bilbo that comes to mind:
"You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to"

Albeit a nice walking stick and a full backpack probably makes it easier 😅

I hope everyone will feel better soon 🙏

I had to leave my car at work yesterday - so this morning, I did a long easy run and ran to work.

This was an adventure run through both the roads I drive every morning and some free-range areas that were new to me. Lots of improvisation as to exactly which turns to take. The last 2.5k were hard (out of the shade of woods, onto warm asphalt), but all in all this was amazing.

I felt good all the way.

                                          This run was a struggle.

First, I'm just not built for (or at least not trained to) run in afternoons. It is what it is.

Second, since I closed the laptop and went on vacation Friday afternoon, I have been tired. My body seems to have fully embrased that I can now just relax.

So even though both distance and pace were fine today, I never really found my flow. It was hard work. But a run is a run, and I am happy I did it.

                                          Distance: 6.87k
                                          Pace: 5'34"
