From their perspective it would be insane not to - like an oil company not pumping oil out of their own already drilled well.

This is the plain truth about this business culture: If there's money to be made they'll do it, no matter how harmful, illegal or unethical - which means they'll also lie about it with zero compunctions.

Do opt out, but don't delude yourself that they respect it.
