First of all, Trek was fucking BORN political - ever heard of a character named Uhura? Notice that Number One in the pilot is a woman, over the explicit protest of the misogynist captain?
Second, stories purely as entertainment is such a niche as to barely exist. There's almost always a message. What These dicks are saying is simply that stories shouldn't contain messages they don't agree with.
In conclusion, they can go fuck themselves.
