In Windows I "fear" updates thinking what they might break this time, or what new spyware feature has been added that I have to disable.

In Windows I "fear" updates thinking what they might break this time, or what new spyware feature has been added that I have to disable. I delay updates as much as possible.
On Linux I'm excited about updates, often updating as soon as they're available, looking forward to an improved experience, new features, security enhancements and such. (That said, sometimes they do also break some things.)
I imagine some Windows users coming to Linux bring this fear of updates with them?

@marcusxms I often fear updates on linux too. Either some ux dude moved a button or my server doesn't start.
And I'm even able to hack and debug half my stack...

@marcusxms some of might also just be more historic things given I have been on Linux primarily since '05 or so.

@svuorela It's since 2007 or so in my case. I used to be more fearful of them on Linux, but now it's rare I experience significant breakages, and most often I'm okay with the UX updates. I see the positives a more often, and I
even tend to run bleeding edge distros. For those prioritizing stability and/or don't have technical knowledge to fix things we have I'd suggest distros with more focus on stability, though.
