It’s before 5am and I’m on a long distance train! That can only mean one thing - #CrossBorderRail ! This time I’m bound for Namur, Belgium via Hamburg, Cologne and Liége.
Surprisingly the 7-11 at Copenhagen Central was closed, but luckily I did pack some snacks. Also, they were struggling to open the main shutters to the platform, so ended up just taking the stairs further down.
And imagine my surprise when a EuroCity trainset arrived. My first time in one of them, and it smells brand new too!

Ok, other than the light strips above the seats being *very* bright for a 5am departure (leading me to actually wear my sunglasses
), it definitely feels like a massive upgrade compared to fhe DSB IC3 and DB IC1s I’m used to on this route! -

Edited to add: I think it might be because we’re like 20min ahead of schedule; probably because the departure from Copenhagen was moved half an hour earlier weeks ago?
Anyway the driver just came on the speaker to apologize once again - he had apparently been occupied with other things when he passed Middelfart. And it has of course been reiterated that people needing to catch a train back to don’t need a new ticket

@yetzt could be! It is one of the stations that not all trains stop at - and honestly it isn’t a common stop on the Copenhagen - Hamburg line either, so I guess it might be a recent addition (I just checked my last 5 trips via Hamburg and none of them have had Middelfart as a stop).
I still find it hilarious

@tofticles @yetzt that does make sense! A friend of mine got stuck in the Slagelse - Ringsted chaos on Sunday and I ended up picking them up from their ICL train in Korsør of all places (since I was in Roskilde anyway so it was “only” an hour out of my way)… and they did mention that they had also stopped at Middelfart.
I guess this is all due to that stupid plan of “since we can’t run the trains on time normally, we’ll just run fewer trains and make them slower”

(but I understand that that is how they usually do it
