Okay, since we got a water softener, my hair has lost most of its curl. I found a suggestion online to try rinsing with Epsom salt to counteract this. Today, I gave it a try. It seems to have had some effect, so I will keep it up and see how things improve.
The first picture is from today, before I washed my hair. The second picture is from after. I washed with my usual shampoo and conditioner, then rinsed with a solution of a handful of Epsom salt in about half a gallon of hot water and allowed it to air dry.

This is interesting, because conventional wisdom says hard water will negatively impact curls
