RSS never tracked you.
Email never throttled you.
Blogs never begged for dopamine.
The old web wasn’t perfect.
But it was yours.@Daojoan Today RSS is actually tracking you...

But it was yours.@Daojoan You forgot one point : that old web never disapparead, it was just hidden below the "web 2" adds, but it exists, it works, and it's still better.

RSS never tracked you.
Email never throttled you.
Blogs never begged for dopamine.
The old web wasn’t perfect.
But it was yours.@Daojoan I first came on Internet in my youth when, in France, the famous Skyblogs were declining and seen as "has been".
For years, I thought it was not worth having a blog: what could I say on there to keep readers engaged?
Well, when I finally set up my blog, I decided I wouldn't care about readers' engagement. Heck, I don't even have analytics (well I do, but I have to skim through Nginx's logs). I write what I feel like writing about, when I feel like writing.
Truly liberating.

But it was yours.@Daojoan Thankfully it's all still there. I can't for sure that life is better without Instagram or TikTok, as I've never used either, but I can tell you I still enjoy the many blogs I read, the forums I frequent, and the emails I exchange with good people.

But it was yours.@Daojoan the Internet didn't change itself. People have the power to regulate the Internet. Unfortunately too many of us are suicidal racists.
