This time they ran my script through an AI "podcast" generator (likely the free one by Adobe) and put it under the footage from my latest video.
When I make my videos, I spend hours travelling and filming on-location to get real footage that can't be found anywhere else.
Then these AI slop creators steal it and release it as their own.
About 90% of my exposure to "AI" these days is just slop farms ripping me off.

@thibaultmol It's fine for the users but unfortunately doesn't solve the problem for authors who do the original content that is stolen by AI-fakes.

It doesn't help to place content on "good" alternatives. The scrapers scrape the whole internet, every private website.
Result for me: A break. I don't find the energy to work so hard on my topics.
At the moment I blog on a site which is at least protected against the legal scrapers.
We do need tough laws and regulations. -

I'm sorry you are having to go through this. I've followed you on YouTube forever now and your content shines with the effort and care you put into your work. It's BS to see it ripped off so carelessly.

@elle The problem are not so much the "legal" scraping bots (the official stuff from the big corporations) but all the illegal scrapers coming not only from the USA.
I'm on a blogging platform that fights the legal ones ... but the criminals develop new ways to scrape in a crazy speed. And they develop crashing poisoning tool, too. It's a race you nearly can't win. -

David Pakmann, the political commentor, posted a video just recently remarking on AI slop that quite well mimics his voice speech pattern. The voice that’s reading some script does sound an awful lot like him. The face is something different but it’s fairly realistic imitating somebody doing a podcast or something of that nature.
It is a gigantic mess that will get worse. It bags for some kind of counter measure

Don't forget that YouTube (aka. Google aka. Alphabet) is complicit in this. They know it is happening, they allow it to continue.

Alternatives for youtube exist and are often far superior. Nebula is a lot cheaper than youtube and completely free of ads, shorts, algorithmic feeds, user tracking and dark patterns. No bullshit, just content and direct support for your favourite creator.

As for the rest of your sales-pitch, there's only ads on youtube if you don't know how to install ublock+blocktube+sponsorblock or newpipe on a mobile device.
If there's any actual advantage to that sign up page your shilling then say so, don't just make stuff up.

@notjustbikes Youtube now REALLY flooded with short AI films. Stopped watching them in the hope it would stop suggesting them.

IMHO it should be in Youtubes own interest to block pure AI slop. If the platform becomes known to be flooded with slop, people will inevitably turn away and that means less revenue for them.

YouTube is becoming flooded with this garbage and it's actively making the platform less viable for real creators to make real content.

@chaekyung @burne @notjustbikes The whole point it's NOT to block ads, if you do, creators are not getting paid, thus no more content. Is it that difficult to understand? Anyway, Nebula is really good, low cost. It's about 2$ USD per month for really great content. Ad free. Stealing content, even the "free" one, it's not helping anybody.

There is no "intelligence" in AI whatsoever, only advanced statistics and datasets that were fed as an input. And, most of all, people who are behind it and who don't give a flying f**k about laws and respect to others' work. -

@chaekyung @burne @notjustbikes Nebula is a working streaming service that I have been using for years. Not sure where you got your "non-functioning website" from. It's very functional if you pay, although I mostly use the app.
It is cheaper than a YT subscription (although not cheaper than free YT). If you watch YT without the ads (no moral judgement here, I do it too) you are denying Jason the ad revenue, so if you do decide to spend the money and get a Nebula subscription - you are supporting him directly. It's your choice, and he should mention this option more often.
