Given the "car" is short for "carriage" which our towns and cities have always had, it would probably be more acurate to say that the internal combustion engine and electric motor which have replaced horses.
The major problem is that far more people own cars than ever owned a horse and cart, and that means fewer people walking moderate distances in favour of driving.

@alineblankertz It took a while but #TheCapitalistEndGame has finally come to fruition. The mistake the ignorant make is they’re still in the growth mindset instead of the stability, or save civilization mindset and especially not recognizing sooner, they are or soon to be shifted into the expendable, edible category.
