@badsamurai yep, I hate it too but it's above my pay grade, and I don't recommend people switch off their ad-blocker.

as if we didn't already have way too many reasons not to use an LLM products already, requiring giving your data to someone as untrustworthy as persona is certainly another major reason to avoid this.
@paul_ipv6 @zackwhittaker That's no problem for us, but what worries me is that so many others will just go ahead and do it. Especially quite a lot of developers apparently are all in on using Claude for coding and people, in general, are so resistant to change they'll sell their souls rather than change what they've decided they like. These things have a tendency to somehow manage to get us too via ricochet so to speak.

@badsamurai @zackwhittaker Usually, once such popups are on screen, even switching off my ad-blocker doesn't provide access to the page. Though using the "hide distracting elements" feature in Safari sometimes will.

@zackwhittaker Looking forward to us going back to pre-internet days and moving to gopher protocol for any online community interaction. I’ll never participate in this ID verification internet especially when a US company is involved.

@Patrickoldhiker @zackwhittaker
I roll ad blockers at DNS layer. They can be mad about it; but I’m not about to update my infrastructure for their adware network for any article.
