Been up all night with friends going through the unpleasantly long lists of infosec people in the Epstein Files.
-
@hacks4pancakes I offer solidarity in the form of "wait, *how* many quantum computing people are in those files?"
the cryptocurrency community is in utter shambles over this too, evidently
-
God, having that conversation feels like yesterday. I was already feeling one billion years old when I told people not to fall for it and end up a patsy. It’s not some stupid CTF or CVE brag to try to outsmart actual dangerous criminals.
@hacks4pancakes "but I'm immune to social engineering and propaganda because I knoooooow about it."
Uh huh. Yup. Right

@xgranade @hacks4pancakes It's impossible to tell whether the quantum computing people are actually in the files or passing through the files without first observation and destroying the potential for them to be both simultaneously.
-
@munin @hacks4pancakes yeah this almost seems like it wants to be a wiki, structurally
@munin @hacks4pancakes (or an Obsidian notebook in a git repo seems fine, too)

@munin @xgranade @hacks4pancakes "I am Jack's complete lack of surprise"

Been up all night with friends going through the unpleasantly long lists of infosec people in the Epstein Files. Yikes, guys. I knew some of them were pieces of shit, already - but too many other people fell for a transparent bid to illegitimatize elections, and I said so then.

️
@hacks4pancakes Is someone going to write up a list of shame eventually?
-
@hacks4pancakes "but I'm immune to social engineering and propaganda because I knoooooow about it."
Uh huh. Yup. Right
@grrrr_shark @hacks4pancakes And THATS when you are most vulnerable to it. I did it. Felt like a moron afterward.
-
@munin @xgranade @hacks4pancakes "I am Jack's complete lack of surprise"
@brad @munin @xgranade @hacks4pancakes shocked. Just shocked.
Sigh. I’m gonna need to dig a deeper hole for my opinion of far too many people.

@hacks4pancakes You've got a stronger stomach than I do to review that revolting material. Thanks for digging through the muck.

@hacks4pancakes I think infosec has always had some very disturbing facets. There are a lot of wonderful people who are all about "live, let live, let me help" but there are also some amazingly toxic people who either aren't capable of fitting that, who are strictly selfish, or who are full of hate and spite - and some quantity who are detatched enough from social structures to either be gray rocks or go wherever they're led.

@hacks4pancakes @xgranade
Couple of physicists too. Rich people like to keep around a few experts so they can feel smart by association. -
OMFG... is there a clearinghouse of names yet?
@danmcd Yeah, I'd like to see the list also.
-

@hacks4pancakes @FeloniousPunk yup. If you don't think you're vulnerable, you're already fucked.

@hacks4pancakes But in what context are they mentioned?
As in they one time went to an event hosted by/involving Epstein, or as in they were (allegedly) complicit in his crimes, or something in-between?Is this the latest dump of files or the older ones?
Thanks

In slightly related topic, in the latest dump, there was a report from an informant claiming Epstein had a private hacker who also sold exploits to several governments: https://techcrunch.com/2026/01/30/informant-told-fbi-that-jeffrey-epstein-had-a-personal-hacker/
The name was redacted though and its unclear if the FBI was able to verify the informant's claims -

@hacks4pancakes @FeloniousPunk not to somehow indicate I think the fuckers on that list were innocent rubes, duped, mind you. Was just thinking about our community's hubris aloud.

Cryptocurrency, infosec, and quantum computing were the big targets and definitely looking the worst.

@hacks4pancakes i'm disappointed, but somehow, it explains a lot of the past decade
