@wordshaper @sundogplanets People used to say the only good broadcast TV news were the satire shows. (I don't think The Daily Show was that good.) I'd guess, prior to the decisive shift to fascism, they still thought some pressure release valve was needed. But almost all the news media in the US has been consolidated under a few owners. Internet-only news was the last holdout and that's collapsing.
