@henry There is some appeal to the thought that if AI can really do all the nasty work, we can all go do fun stuff. But apparently capitalism doesn't work that way...
@KeithWM @henry The other side of this being a thing is UBI existing first. The same people have convinced the masses to fight UBI with every ounce of their strength.
UBI isn't incompatible with capitalism, but it would mean everything would have to pay enough or people wouldn't do it. This is definitely not something people at the top could stomach. With UBI the inequality that lets them be filthy rich ends.
Actually, if you want to know who is most disposable, it's the people at the top...

@henry Yeah, but horse wages dropped precipitously.

@henry "I'd argue horses became a lot more free" is a banger of a line

@nazokiyoubinbou @henry I wonder: if our human input for these machines is so valuable to help us train them, shouldn't we be getting paid to use them? Chatting to the machine(s) might be the only way to actually earn any money. I see a cheap second-rate sci-fi book coming along. Maybe I can ask Copilot to write it...

@henry What '#AI' is best for is revealing stupid people.

@KeithWM @henry It's the age of enshittification. They think by giving us access to a thing it means we owe them, thus them stealing our data and using it any way they want or selling it to anyone they want is perfectly justified.
Isn't the age of enshittification great? No?
Funny thing though, LLMs being scammed as fake AI will never ever replace people in most jobs. But... If there are jobs that could credibly be replaced LLMs, it's those at the top...

@luc0x61 @henry Someone above mentioned the rock dove or “homing pigeon” that is probably the only example of “returning to the wild” that was relatively successful and rather invasive
(but hey, at least they can survive urban cities better than most species
) . Before the invention of the telegraph and a secure messaging system (no telegraphs weren’t entirely secure
) pigeons were the fastest form of communication (I don’t know if this makes you feel any better
)@em_and_future_cats @luc0x61 @henry
and perhaps they should still be in use.

@flq @Doomed_Daniel @phf @jef @henry Soylent Green is, well, you know...
You know what I really hate? Gangs of horses hanging out at the cafe all day, hogging all the tables and pooping all over the floor, because they have nowhere better to be.
@maccruiskeen @flq @Doomed_Daniel @phf @jef @henry faaaaaaaar too many undocumented horses cross our southern border every day, takin jerbs from American horses

@henry This sounds like a quote from someone who expects people who've lost or never developed the ability to think critically not to question them.

Indeed. "Why go to school when AI can do it for me?"
My wish for this person is that they have the life they're voting for.
The rest of us are gonna keep at it.
