I've been noticing people posting lots of stuff that is directly related to things that they've posted before. That's super cool because I love peeking into other people's lives and goings on!
But when they make a new standalone post for every update, I'm probably never going to be able to read the previous posts and therefore I have no idea what they're talking about.
If this sounds like you, please use a thread so I can properly peek at you!
@alisynthesis Good point! I'm guilty! Next time I'll use a single starting toot and then use replies.

@ahihi oh, totally. I think after a post is more than a couple of days old, it's pretty much a lost cause.

@ahihi i'm more thinking about when people are posting over a day or two, I just wish they would use threads.
Also, it should go without saying, but I'm not suggesting anyone should actually change their behavior to placate my weird needs.

@alisynthesis @ahihi my clunky solution is to use a distinctive hashtag and/or to search for words I remember using, adding from:me to the search query, which always feel awkwardly narcissistic

@sknob @alisynthesis @ahihi I love to make long threads that go on for months. Sometimes I remember to use a hashtag, but the other thing that works is to search my own post history by media. If I included a picture or a video (I always do -- I get people's attention with graphics), I can quickly scan for that and follow that to the thread.

@alisynthesis the problem is Mastodon search sucks, making it really hard to find even your own post about something from a year or two ago.
