Maximum resistance to picking.
If "maximum" is about 20 seconds, I'd hate to see their less-secure locks.
@alice If we were friends IRL you'll be so easy to buy gifts for. Every Christmas and birthday, another lock.
But then you'll be like my kids and only play with your new 'toy' for 20 seconds!

@alice I assume it's a typo - "Maximum resistance to pickling". Put that baby in vinegar for 6 months and they guarantee it won't be a pickle by end of it. It'll still just be a disappointing lock.
-
@alice
I think the locks you showed me had six. Why would they brag about five?@ohmu it's 5.

To be fair, until reading this, I figured the "high security" was about having only a very short length of hasp exposed to ye olde two handled key. -
@ohmu it's 5.
@alice
Oh. I definitely trust you on the number
It just seems like an odd thing for them to advertise -

@Fruan you might be on to something.
Of perhaps it's "Maximum resistance to licking"? You'll never make it to the Tootsie roll core.

@alice I don’t particularly want to test that idea, which I guess means the lock does indeed have lick resistance.

@Fruan but have you ever tasted fresh padlock?
You never forget your first one. -
@Fruan but have you ever tasted fresh padlock?
You never forget your first one.@alice in the sense of “Now I know never to do that again”, one presumes.

@alice Maximum resistance you can defeat in 20 seconds? What, did Chuck Schumer make this lock?

@alice Were they even mushroom or otherwise pick-resistant pins?

@alice@lgbtqia.space No no no, clearly it's maximum resistance to being picked by a consumer. They simply know in advance that their lock is absolute garbage and simply wanted to warn you. Someone's gotta provide the garbage-tier locks to compare against, after all, so they're really doing the world a service

@alice Easily drilled out... There is even a jig from the manufacturer for it, complete with bit, which wears out fairly fast.

@alice lol keyway so wide you could drive through with a truck.

@alice The less secure ones have disc locks for minimum jiggling resistance.
