    @xxv holy shirt. If you hadn't explained what you did, I would have put heavy odds on this being genAI. That's so freaking cool. I had to suffice with glow in the dark stickers and black light posters.

    @jrdepriest glow in the dark stickers and black light posters are an entirely different flavor of delight. The moon projector is legit too bright so I've had to incorporate a "it's time to say goodnight to the moon" ritual into his bedtime routine, as I turn it off (we have it on for story time). Glow in the dark stars are your friends all night long 💖

      My 1.5yr old kid is obsessed with the moon. He asks for it all the time, so we try to bring him outside and show it to him. Of course it's not always visible and he gets sad.

      Due to Reasons I happen to have a galaxy projector that also has a built-in pico projector in order to play cheesy "3D" space videos. I figured that it probably had a micro SD card somewhere in it, which turned out to be true.

      So with the help of a screwdriver and ffmpeg I've now given my kid his very own moon.

                  @xxv It’s fun that this child likes and is following the
                  Moon. The moon is an amazing object for earth dwellers to consider its phases, disappearances and fullness. Tidal phenomena are also quite interesting. Do you ilve near a large body of water?

                            Perhaps, as in Carl Sagan‘s Contact, something important comes out of this — «The narrative begins with a series of flashbacks detailing the formative years of Dr. Eleanor “Ellie” Arroway. From a young age, she exhibits a profound curiosity about science and the cosmos, from learning to read as a toddler and repairing a radio as a young child to pursuing a lifelong fascination with the stars. Encouraged by her father, Theodore Arroway, she avidly pursues her intellectual interests.» (The quote is from a summary of the 1985 book, https://www[.]supersummary[.]com/contact-carl-sagan/summary/)

                                          @xxv your 1.5yo kid should rather learn frustration. The moon is not always visible, period.

                                          the longer you wait, the harder it will be. frustration. important. or do you want a king baby?

                                          @f4grx @xxv

                                          You're saying don't teach a kid that creative solutions can solve frustrations?

                                          Also there's still -plenty- of frustrating things left in the world, even for toddlers.
