      @mhoye did they ever explain why they changed his name to David for that TV show in the 1970s?

        @mhoye ...also 7 phds implies a giant bucket of money someplace to pay for all the things so essentially hulk is an ultimate expression of the nepo baby / trustafarian archetypes...

        @adamsteer @mhoye either that or his real talent is writing really good grant applications

          Apparently studio executives thought that “Bruce” sounded a bit gay… 🤷‍♂️

            @meena @adamsteer Maybe it's a preexisting condition and everyone just knows he's going to turn green and Hulk Smash if he gets mad enough, and that's why they give him all the grants?

              @mhoye And with 7 PhDs he's canonically both an idiot and has commitment-to-reality issues, which also tracks. I mean, seriously. Nobody with any actual contact with the real world's going to go for 3 (or even 2) PhD's, let alone 7.

              @wordshaper @mhoye I once suggested on twitter that a second PhD was kinda silly, and boy, did I get flamed
              but seriously, a PhD is learning how to solve problems, so you don't need a second one

                @failedLyndonLaRouchite @wordshaper @mhoye Chaotic evil counterpoint: this is true but if you want to know more about another field, an extra masters' can be helpful....

                  They might if they're trying to keep delaying student loan payments.

                    @mhoye @meena

                    maybe the real skill was doing 7 PhDs that were all granted based on closely aligned replication or validation studies and getting 7 stipends all at once 🙌🏻😂😂

                    [almost just over a living wage, in Australia at least 😬🤔]

                      @wordshaper @mhoye I love the multiple PhDs trope 🤣 It's like saying "he did 8th grade three times, he must be a genius!"

                        @wordshaper @mhoye I have met someone with two PhDs. Was as you would expect. Also know someone with 1½ PhDs but he's kinda normal. For someone with a PhD.

                          @adamsteer @mhoye PhDs are better paid in some parts of the world.
