Demonstrators repeatedly forced open the metal gate of the ICE facility, which is guarded by federal agents who have been brutalizing Portland locals on a regular basis since mid-2025—including tear-gassing children.
Local and state police moved in to protect the facility, showing their complicity with ICE. Nonetheless, the demonstrators did not back down.

@CrimethInc it's crazy how much police repression tactics differ by territory. Sooo many hyper-armed ICE thugs out for chill ass demos. Whereas in mexico city, after the cops arrested one person, like 30-40 folks shut down one of the main roadways for hours, put up light barricades and made bonfires, and all the cops did was redirect traffic and send the firefighters, who just watched and eventually got bored and left, fires still ablaze.
In the US its a wild paramilitary show of force with, mostly, legal consequences.
In mexico, they give the appearance of tolerance then murder you in secret later.
And in both cases, their respective societies generally accept it all as normal.
