She was unarmed. She was pregnant. She was already in their custody. There is no version of events where the correct response is to drag a woman at 37 weeks by the arm and drop her on concrete. None.
Violence normalized against one population doesn't stay contained. It migrates. It learns new targets. Ask Israelis about the “boomerang effect” (Césaire, Arendt ) of their routinized violence against Palestinians and how are they being treated by Israeli police in Tel Aviv these days.
Francesca Albanese, the UN rapporteur, put it exactly right: "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next."
