๐ Poison ๐ your ๐ data โ ๏ธ

The goal is to make corporate data less profitable.
Even stuff as simple as setting your birthdate to 1970-01-01 everywhere, adding [TEST] or [DELETED] as your name or account notes anywhere you don't need them to know your name.
Using plugins like AdNauseam to poison ad trackers (and cost them marketing dollars).
Using VPNs set to different locations.
Signing into data broker sites to "correct" outdated info (they'll often let you do that with little-to-no proof of identity, but will require your passport or state ID in order to delete your info). Bonus points if you correct it to someone else's info on their site that's similar to yours.
Only fill in required fields when you sign up for anything, but only provide correct info if it matters for you to use the service, otherwise provide plausible, but incorrect, data.
If you use LLMs anywhere, use the free tier and always vote thumbs up for bad answers and down for good ones. It wastes their resources and drives up their costs while making their training data worse.
@alice my real name if Firstname Lastname I was born on 01/01/2000. Except when Iโm signing up for apps about coffee shop loyalty then usually my birthday is the day after Iโm signing up on the year 2000 because they often give out treats on your birthday

-
@alice set your name to [Object object] as that is a common front end fuck up
@robcornelius oh nice

-
@alice I currently use UBlock Origin for my as woes. Can that be used in conjunction with AdNauseam? Would one offset the other?
@asyetundecided AdNauseam uses UBlock under the hood, so you can just switch and keep the benefits of both.
-
@alice what about creating fake profiles with real name but fake info? Does it make any sense or is it a waste of effort?
@vectorthealien depends on the info. I used to have an infographic for how much various personal data was typically worth to ad companies like Google and on the dark web (to scammers).
Anything that makes marketers' jobs harder or companies' lives harder is of some value to fuck with.

@alice Dope!

@Captain_Jack_Sparrow @Ripp_ @alice it certainly is - my flatmates at college were big fans of the show

@tadbithuman unless it is good, then down-vote it.
@alice we want not to provide free labor to them, so always affirm... They have 'worked' so hard, we don't want them to do any more 'work'

@alice With that last answer, I finally have a use for LLMs.

@alice also don't forget to use @torproject / #TorBrowser and actively refuse to use sites that don't respect your inalienable #HumanRight to #Privacy (aka. ban #Tor users)โฆ

@Numerfolt @alice yeah, we need to switch to offensive mode.
That makes me want to create a nightshade fuse FS.
So when you want to upload the image from your picture folder, it nightshades it on the fly.@dolanor @Numerfolt @alice I jist ban entire ASNs if necessary.

@sinvega the problem is that they *take* regardless. So give them poison freely.

@alice
Thanks Alice!... also, consider varying the spelling of your name across many places and keep a record. When you start receiving junk mail and spam and phishing using a specific spelling, you will know who is selling or leaking your data.
Looking at YOU, Wholefoods
