@jaseg Magnificent! I would like to know more about the stitching. I have a bad paperback that needs rebuilding and i want to stitch it back together. Clearly it would be easier to just buy another copy, but yknow.

@drj We pretty much improvised from pictures we found on google searching for “coptic binding”

@drj it’s a really basic chain stitch. You pre-poke the holes, then feed the thread from one hole to the next on the inside of the pages. The thread goes through each hole twice.

@drj we found it’s easiest to do with one of those bent leather sewing needles
