Many people have not received the letter, and with less than 3 days notice, many trans Kansans have been immediately forced into having "illegal" IDs that in addition to barring them from driving, prevents them from accessing other services as well.

While this is specifically a trans rights issue, it is also an issue that can broadly impact any group of people, and Kansas is a particularly difficult state to deal with already when it comes to how they issue their IDs.
Personally, I had to go nearly a full month without a valid ID about 13 years ago because they first "lost" my REAL ID application and wouldn't allow me to reapply for a new one until 3 weeks had passed. I still had to work and was forced to drive without a legal license.

I can't imagine the bureaucratic hell this will put people through. Having no effective notice that their ID's will be invalidated and then having to go through the standard waiting period to receive a physical copy of their ID, much less if there's any sort of "delay" or "paperwork issue".
I was lucky that I had a current passport and could use that for all non-driving forms of identification. This may not be a straightforward fallback for folks, not clear to me if passports would be accepted.

the people still there who are trans will leave. This will hurt Kansas in the long run. My experience with Trans individuals is that they are typically valuable members of society and contribute greatly to whatever they put their mind to.
Nobody wins when it comes to hate.
