          The reason I'd gone in there in the first place was because I had some time to kill

            @bobthomson70

            It’s pronounced feeeemale

            (ngl I would probably give the Ken Follett a go)

            Every Ken Follett strong feeeemale character during every phase of British history:

            - Whip-smart and also lithe as a whip.
            - Sense of yuuumour and also very serious.
            - Fiercely independent and also totally devoted to A Guy.
            - Extremely skillful and resourceful does everything better than the men around her can do but also, and this is important, most fetchingly.
            - Very ethical and also cunning and brave but also frightened and admirable but with some vulnerabilities and strong but with a softer side.
            - Has been through a lot which has just made her stronger not bitter and definitely not a man-hater in fact really rather horny and up for it right now as a matter of fact.

              This reminds me of the twenty minutes I once wasted in Waterstones in the run-up to Xmas, moving books between the "gifts for him" and "gifts for her" displays

              @regordane @Nickiquote @eleanorrees How was that wasted?

              I myself have spent time in Barnes and Noble (1) putting bookmarks for the GI Rights Hotline into books by Tom Clancy, WEB Griffin, et al.., and (2) reshelving Rush Limbaugh and his ilk into fantasy fiction.

                      @Nickiquote funny how the manly men of the UK will read all the books about the evils of the Nazis, then go and get all aquiver about Farage and his fellowship of fascist fuckwits.

                      You'd think reading books might help.
