Is Mastodon officially a 'Programmers' Neighborhood' and 'Engineers' Village'? I feel like everyone here is building robots!
And they just swing by to grab some code as a main meal here🤨Or perhaps it's just because of my two friends?

#fediverse #fedi@joynewacc I can’t program and I am not an engineer. So it is for sure not everyone at Mastodon. But maybe everyone -2…

@FediWouter we should create an App for ppl like us

@joynewacc Are you starting to program??

@FediWouter we’re managing to create an App for us far away from the programmers and engineers,
Then we end up needing them to program the application for us
,
Now are they oxygen? Can't we live without them? -

@FediWouter and consider it a kind of celebration?

@joynewacc I find that a difficult question to answer. I only want to celebrate when everyone can live freely without programmers and without war.

@FediWouter@mastodon.world @joynewacc@mastodon.social I like the spirit!
“Let’s make an app for non-programmers that doesn’t allow techies in!”
“Oh crap, now we actually need a programmer for that”

But now vibe coding seems to be a thing so you could still give it a try

My wife tried to make her own app with AI in these weeks, she started with “of course I can do that without engineering support if I have AI!” (even though she’s an engineer herself, although not a programmer)
She ended up calling me every 10 minutes because things weren’t working and she didn’t know how to fix them

@FediWouter@mastodon.world @joynewacc@mastodon.social btw even though I acknowledge that the Fediverse has a bit of tech over-representation (what else to expect from a place made of people who wrote their own protocol and run their own servers?
) there’s actually a lot of diversity and non-tech folks too. It’s just that they aren’t very easy to find because the chronic discoverability issues of the Fediverse (even though some would call them design choices rather than issues). Some places to discover accounts by interests:
https://fediverse.info/explore/people/
And of course follow @FediTips@social.growyourown.services and @FediFollows@social.growyourown.services

Plus following hashtags is a great plus here, so you can easily receive posts about a given topic even from people that you don’t know/follow.

There are lots of non-programmer non-computer people on here!
You can find many ways to discover accounts about all sorts of topics at https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-find-accounts-to-follow-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-how-do-i-find-my-friends
