    Amsterdam to ban outdoor advertising of meat, fossil fuel and flights from May 2026.

    Likened to tobacco ads, stripping ads from billboards and bus stops aims to strip credibility from the industry.

    Who's next and when will online bans kick in too?

    @greenpeace
    this is good news, but when will #greenpeace stop advertising "sustainable" meat?

    like these campaigns:

        @greenpeace Banks.

        Companies offering consumer credit facilities such as credit and store cards.

        Products produced by companies with pro-Trump/Nazi CEOs.

          @pelle that is valid criticism but not nearly as relevant as the reply guy problem here. Do you have ideas on how to solve that first so we can keep focused on topics?

          I'd suggest in this case quote posting may be a great solution, but I'd like to learn with you.

            @iwein
            now when #greenpeace is celebrating the partial ban on meat ads in #netherlands, i think it's fair to ask #greenpeace themselves to stop taking money from the #meat industry to advertise #meat products.

            it's less of a #replyguy problem and more of a #hypocrisy and #speciesism problem.

            my reply doesn't kill anyone, but #greenpeace's meat ads do:

              @pelle sorry friend, just messing with you a little in good fun. Hope you don't mind. Feel free to mute me for a bit, I'm in a manic mood (usually takes 24h max)

                @greenpeace My candidate for next is 'wealth management'. I suppose there have always been accountants providing tax avoidance advice but to have 'wealth management' companies openly advertising these services on the high street of most towns send like a slap on the face to all us little people who do our jobs, and pay our dues.

                  that's fine. don't worry. being manic is fine.

                  i have a thing going on with greenpeace because they call the cops on me when i do peaceful non-violent protest for animals.

                  the fridges in their copenhagen offices are filled with meat, and they really should know better.

                  so i'm just reminding them to practice what they preach (because what they preach is important!)

                    Shame they don't ban billboards altogether.
