@robhawkes looks great! (you need to update the about page now though!)

@robhawkes the battery view is really interesting, but I guess you need to work out a way of distinguishing export vs import on the map now

@russss Indeed! I have some ideas but at some point I'm concerned I'm massively overloading the map so I need to take a step back and think about how to approach import vs. export. It also makes the curtailment and turn-up actions hard to make sense of visually.

I'd also like to thank you for all the support and encouragement as I build this free resource in my free time (yup, this isn't my job).

Honestly, it's been an incredible motivator and the discussions over the years have taught me a huge amount that has only made the map better for everyone.

        Until the next update!

@robhawkes Petition to change the color of biomass to a reddish hue because it's mostly the Drax and the Drax isn't green in any way a normal person would understand green.

It's here! All power assets are now live on my GB Renewables Map ⚡

That's right, it's not just wind farms any more. Now you can see live and historic data for gas power plants, nuclear, grid batteries, biomass, pumped hydro and even a bit of solar.

Wind farms are still the default for now, though you can enable as many or as few of the other fuel types and your selection will be remembered when you come back to the website.

It's already live so go play for yourself:

@scvalex I've wondered the same thing, I think all the colours can be changed if I'm honest.

Perhaps biomass can be a poo brown to match the colour of the fuel pellets.

@robhawkes yeah it's a tricky one... I wonder if some kind of circular bar graph visualisation might work.

Also it's currently showing curtailment numbers for storage plants which I don't think makes sense

@russss I've wondered this too (about storage). I mean technically it's a reduction in output vs. reported PN, plus it often goes even further into the import.

In my head it still makes sense to count that as curtailment (or at least turn-down) as it's still an accepted bid to reduce output (or soak up demand) and reduce pressure on a constraint.

Certainly needs some thought and tweaking though.

@robhawkes great work, well done for shipping! A question about grid boundaries. Do the percentages indicate generation over demand, or something else? Also, what does normalise do?

@jwheare Thanks! The % is a simple boundary flow (without subtracting curtailment) vs. boundary limit taken from the day-ahead forecasts by NESO

I'm currently working on a better way of calculating this with other datasets.

@robhawkes Very nice! Do you have something which defines terms like 'turn up'? and similar for the battery storage?
Which APIs let you get the current state of each battery; one thing I've had as an idea for a while is to have a 'current charge' state for the country but also to look at how that changes over time as we add more batteries.
Hmm, aren't there some compressed air storage around as well?

                                    @robhawkes This is very pretty!

How do I filter by different generation sources? I found the buttons on the lower right of the map, but they don't filter the list and I couldn't see what else they did.

Also, there seem to be only four hydroelectric plants listed, while in reality there must be at least ten times that?

Having said all that, excellent effort!

@robhawkes I'm particularly impressed by the curtailment filter! That really demonstrates where the grid lacks capacity. In a rational economy, we'd be moving energy intensive industries to those places.
