    @NickEast_IndieWriter
    Sometimes I skim over sentences too fast then have to go back and read the same sentence several times. It's a bit annoying. Don't know why my brain works like that, but it does put me off from reading a lot at once.

    @krnlg I do that sometime when the book isn't so good, but I rarely have to go back and reread.

      @NickEast_IndieWriter looks a lot like AI illustration, that's why I was asking.

          @NickEast_IndieWriter @reading @bookstodon @books @joinin Also depends on the book type. I read a cookbook differently than a reference book or a philosophical work. It even makes a difference if it is literature or a science fiction novel.

          So depending on the book I'm one of the six described readers.

                  There should be "Yeet" there as well, where mid reading you realise something terrible about the author and immediately need to cast the book aside.

                    @MsDK12 Yes! And glad you wrote this. I came away with "wow, I've always had the wrong idea about 'peruse', thinking of it as something you do in a leisurely way'". And then a bunch of runaway musing on how I absorb a sense of words' meanings that may not always be right. Not to say that never happens, but happy to not add to that pile.
