@forestfjord @Chris It is an excellent door, isn't it. The hinges alone are magnificent. Architectural elements from 1060 hold their own, in both senses, all these centuries later. The door is absolutely not within my gift. Best I can do you is another blurry photo of it from an inside angle.
Always that glow on the floor...

I'll stop now, I promise. Last one. As well as the bell, I just think the door deserves a look-in too.
My apologies for lying to the Fediverse. Here comes one more toot. I was just packing away my photos from the Viking church and spotted the door frame. I don't want it to feel overlooked and under-appreciated.

Cool - I feel like I've been given the complete tour now - thanks...

@Chris @forestfjord There are a few tiny holes for light in the walls at distant spots. The day I took the photos, there was extreme-heat sunshine. It created that one bright light-ball on the floor at different angles, depending where you stood. In that dark, atmospheric place, it seemed like something deliberate and otherworldly.

@CiaraNi That's really beautiful. Glad you posted this one more photo.

@NellytheWillow I was feeling a bit sheepish about posting one random Silent Sunday-photo that accidentally grew into a long thread, so thank you for saying that
And agreed, it's a beautiful door frame. Striking in contrast to the simple, austere, gloomy interior. -

@CiaraNi
The decoration on the front of this church, including this, is so beautiful.
And the bell tower that also is a gate to the 'church yard'.
Testament to the dedication of the people building and visiting is so long ago. -

@CiaraNi You're not really sorry, are you?
