@82mhz

it was one of the most difficult, taxing projects I've done. Almost 2 weeks to do was NOT what I was expecting. Fun, but exhausting. -

I bought a Sony Walkman
http://82mhz.net/posts/2026/07/i-bought-a-sony-walkman/@82mhz I had one from Siemens that I loved. It had a lever to change playback direction and it had auto-reverse which automatically actionated to lever on the end of the tape

http://82mhz.net/posts/2026/07/i-bought-a-sony-walkman/You got a later model! -10 to prestige; +30 to usability.
Now you need some orange headphones and a nice business card.
(they are now making good orange ones - https://headfonics.com/fiio-snowsky-wind-review/ or https://koss.com/products/kph40-retro if you like bass)

Uh, the orange ones look fantastic!!
A walkman from the 80s would be cooler of course, but they're horribly expensive and I'm a cheapskate
But those Koss headphones...

What's up, bad day today? Or are you still bummed about that whole AI nonsense at work? I would have been frustrated as hall with that, too...@82mhz I'm not entirely sure. I'm incredibly tired, even though I actually got a lot of sleep and even lay back down for another hour this morning.
All that empty AI business speak annoyed me for a bit yesterday. But I can put it aside with relative ease, because I'm not forced to do anything with it, apart from wasting my time in boring ass meetings listening to people discuss how to extort value from the hallucinating parrot machine.
I did however attend the company summer party yesterday. I skipped the team event (which was go-karting
) and just joined for the good food. I didn't talk much, listened a lot and generally spent time with colleagues that I like a lot. I was only there for 3 or 4 hours, but maybe that already burned out my social batteries so hard that I'm still spent after a good night's rest.
I've always been an introvert, but lately it feels like it's getting "worse". Maybe it's the added friction of having kids running around that don't respect your privacy or need for quiet.
Or maybe I'm just tired from sleeping bad the rest of the week or generally cranky.
Writing my thoughts out already helped to sort through them, but I still don't have a definite answer what's up. That happens to me a lot too now and it scares me a bit. I used to be very in touch with my body and psyche and it's scary that I lost that ability.

http://82mhz.net/posts/2026/07/i-bought-a-sony-walkman/@82mhz Cool! but also, "I 3D-printed a cog that fit into the tape, attached that to my battery powered drill and wound the tape back and forth a couple of times this way." ... CHEATER!
