#Farage has unveiled a detailed welfare package aimed at shrinking the social security budget and tightening eligibility rules
The party argues the existing system encourages dependency rather than self-reliance as health-related claims surge.
The proposed concrete changes to the welfare system include:
All foreign nationals will have their welfare rights completely removed after a three-month notice period.
This rule will eventually extend to those holding EU settled status, a group that currently accounts for about one in ten universal credit claimants.
Non-British nationals will face an increased immigration health surcharge to access NHS services.
Personal independence payments will end for people with what the party describes as "non-serious anxiety cases".
Affected claimants will be redirected into a fast-track employment programme instead of receiving up to £194.60 per week.
Mandatory face-to-face assessments will replace current processes for many applicants seeking disability support.
The Motability car leasing scheme will be restricted strictly to non-luxury vehicles and individuals with clear mobility needs.Disability organisations have voiced strong criticism over a lack of detailed safeguards for vulnerable households.
Campaigner Ian Greaves from #Disability Rights UK warned that reinstating the two-child limit would plunge many struggling working families into deeper debt.
Experts warn that stripping benefits from EU citizens could violate the 2020 post-Brexit withdrawal agreement and trigger a strong response from the European Union.

@Geri What luxury cars can you get with motability?

@Geri What luxury cars can you get with motability?
@BenCotterill @Geri for Farage a "luxury car" would be any one big enough to take a powered wheelchair.

@BenCotterill @Geri just to note that already any disabled person who needs a larger vehicle for accessibility reasons has to top up what cash Motability will provide themselves.

@Geri the benefits bill needs to be reduced else tax will escalate until everyone needs to be on benefits. However, actually helping people into valiable work with a reasonable wage is a better way to do it. As the benefits system sits, a lot of people who genuinely need help cannot get it or enough help.

@Geri Way too detailed, as if it's a serious issue. The Right
️ has been harping on this for decades but it's - pardon me - bullshit; it's just racism in disguise, there's no real problem & thus their repeated demands for this solves nothing, but creates a lot of new problems. It isn't worthy of being taken seriously.
